Pooky's Poems

You don’t need bars to make a prison,
You just need an angry mind
That blows out of all proportion
All the evidence it finds;
So you think that people hate you,
And you think that you’re no good,
And you think you haven’t done the things
You think you know you should.
The toxins such a mind secretes
Will paralyse you fast,
And see you stuck within the walls
Of an uncertain past.
To contemplate the future
Or embrace the world outside
Is too big a task to contemplate;
You cower and you hide.
Your house walls form a prison,
With no bars, no lock, no key.
The most secure jail bars of all?
The fear of being free.
