Hump Day Poetry is a weekly poetry blog-share every Wednesday. Here’s how you can join in
The rules:
1. Write a poem (any type of poetry, even for other challenges) You have from Wednesday to the following Tuesday to link up!
2. Link it to my poem of the week with a pingback or by leaving the link to your poem in comments.
3. Visit other bloggers’ poetry for that week. Like, leave a comment, and share! (Please try to visit as many other poets as possible. Keep the community love flowing!)
Note: to create a pingback, simply include the url of this post somewhere in your post. Please check my page to ensure your pingback has posted. If not, it is either awaiting moderation, or the pingback failed (happens sometimes!). To ensure your post is seen, you may want to just add the link to my page. I would rather have duplicates than not get to read your poetry!

Chilled Thoughts
~for Lisa D.
In the morning chill
with rain falling
just outside the window
I think of you
huddled in your bed
covers drawn to your chin
your teeth chattering
your knees knocking
your feet freezing
and as you lie there
suffering and whimpering
I can hear you repeating
over and over again
in your head:
I wish I was in Florida

Want to try your hand at getting some poetry and/or short fiction published? Check out some of these literary magazines here at LitLine or at Poets & Writers
And while you are over at Poets & Writers, check out their writing prompt section called The Time is Now
April will be here before you know it and Poetic Asides will be hosting their Poem A Day challenge. But you don’t have to wait until April to get prompts. Robert Lee Brewer posts a prompt every Wednesday. Yes, that means today! Go grab one!
Its been a week of distractions
What with the funeral of a student
Children and their particular needs
Best friend going away
Uncertainty and absence.
So Wednesday’s poem
I am afraid I have missed out on writing
so please forgive my tardiness
I have excuses a plenty.
But next week I’ll make an effort
Pen a rhyme or two
some might even make a lick of sense
But I cannot promise anything but words…
I am sorry to hear about the funeral, your friend going away and all of your other troubles, Michael.. life is more important than my silly blog share, my dear. I will look forward to your work next week. My condolences and best wishes.
Thank you Lori I knew you’d understand….catch you next week…..
Any time, Michael.. see you soon 🙂
PS Shouldn’t you be asleep?
*laughs* I was up until 4:30 this morning.. crashed for a few hours 😀
Glad you did, my day is just beginning…it’s Saturday here…
Ah! Yes, that it is.. enjoy your lovely day, Michael 🙂

Haha! I never wish I was in Florida, but I have been known to dream about ice hotels in August 😉
*laughs* that sounds lovely, especially with the humid Augusts we usually have.. my friend hates winter and used to live in Florida, so she always wishes to be there this time of year 😀
I think there are more of her than there are of me, so I can still relate! 🙂
*laughs* probably so 😀
here is it :’)
