small stones – April 4, 2016

art credit: “Days End” by Julia Swartz

and there I am
as a child once more
lying upon my bed
stomach pressed
into the mattress
knees bent
calves curled up
elbows planted
head propped up
with gentle hands
and my imagination
transports me
to another time
another place

far away, dear mother
from your angered face

Ohhhhh, what a great and unexpected turn! Nothing like a little escapism to save the day…or at least redeem it.
