(Update 05/18/18: I am still reading books for reviews, although my time is sparse these day. I will eventually get around to all promised reviews as well as reviews on books I find enjoyable and read on the side.
I am constantly doing Book Promotions. If you would like for me to do one for you, I would just need a media kit. See below for details. Thank you ~Lori~)
Here on A Whispered Wind, I enjoy doing Book Promotions and Book Reviews. You can view my Book Promotions here and my Book Reviews here.
Book Promotions
I do not charge for Book Promotions. It gives me great pleasure to promote fellow authors’ work. If you have an upcoming book release or a book already out, and you would like me to promote it for you, leave me a message in comments, or email me at ravynehawke(at)gmail(dot)com (I am sure you know how to convert that to a real email address, right? I thought so.)
For a Book Promotion, I would need a media kit. The kit should include the follow:
- photo of the book’s cover
- photo of the author
- book blurb or ‘about the book’
- a sample chapter of the book (if you want that included)
- an author’s bio
- release date of the book (if necessary)
- where to purchase/pre-order (URL) – Amazon, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, etc.
- any social media sites where the author can be contacted – Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Goodreads, LinkedIn, etc.
- the author’s personal and/or professional website/blog
- author’s email address (if you wish to be contacted this way)
- any other information you may want to include – a video premiere of the book, a few pre-release reviews or other reviews if applicable, release party information, a current sale of the book and where, etc.
If you do not have a media kit ready, I can piece together something for the Book Promotion for you using the above information if I can find it on a blog or social media site.
Book Reviews
I do not charge for Book Reviews.
Book Reviews are also a passion of mine. I am an avid reader and have a huge stack of books to read on my desk as well as saved on my Kindle. If asked, I will do book reviews to help out authors who aren’t on my immediate reading lists. My reviews are honest and fair. If I don’t like a book for whatever reason, I will say so in the review. If I see technical issues (grammar, use of tags, etc.), I will say so in my review. I am not a harsh critic unless the work is just too ghastly to consume and even then, I try to find something about a book that I enjoyed. I have no desire to tear down a fellow writer.
If you would like for me to review your book, please leave a message in comments or email me at the address given above. It takes me one to two weeks to read, take notes and write a review. I give myself that wide a window because I get ill fairly often due to a suppressed immune system.
I will review any genre, but my favorites are thrillers, mysteries, science fiction, fantasy, horror, paranormal and poetry. If you ask me to review a contemporary romance, I will, but please note, it is not a favorite genre and may take me longer to read. The review will not reflect my own personal views of romances. It will still be an honest and fair review. I do enjoy historical and Gothic romances. Yes, I do review children’s and YA books too. I have not reviewed any non-fiction books lately, but I am willing to do so. In non-fiction, I enjoy biographies, autobiographies, memoirs, history, art, self-help, spirituality and politics. I am weak in Maths and most Science subjects and would probably not do your book justice if I were to review it, but I would still try if asked.
If you’d like me to review your book, you can either send me a free copy, or direct me to a low-priced copy (I rarely pay more than $3.99 for a Kindle copy). I will inform you of an approximate date for the review to appear, determined on my current work-load. I leave reviews on Amazon, Goodreads, Smashwords and on this blog. Reviews will also post on Twitter as my account here is connected.
Note: I do have an extensive list of books that I am currently reviewing. Since I get ill a lot, it sometimes takes me a while to get around to reading. Please be patient. I *will* get your book(s) read and reviewed.
(05.19.18) For those who asked for reviews last year and I still haven’t reviewed, I am deeply sorry it has taken so long. I had an extensive illness last year from February until early June. This pushed me further behind in my reviews. Another illness later in the year for nearly three months pushed me even further behind. These illnesses usually result in long stays in the hospital and I do try to read some while there. However, I have limited use of my Kindle and usually take paperbacks with me. I will get all books read and reviewed. Please continue to have patience. Thank you.

Hello Angel and thank you for contacting me. Yes, I do love scifi and horror and yes, I would love to review your books. Unfortunately, it will be mid-March before I can purchase and read your books. I am on a limited book budget and have spent mine for February and won’t have funds again until mid-March. If you do not mind the wait.. I will set your books to be read during the later part of March. Just let me know if this is okay with you.
Sure not a problem, thank you so much! Take your time, I appreciate the reply back, I’ve also followed you on twitter. Are you on Facebook so I can follow you there as well? I’m on FB as well https://www.facebook.com/thousandyearswar/

Hello Maxine. Yes, very busy and a bit behind due to having the flu for the last two weeks. I would love to review your children’s books. Those links didn’t come through, so can you email them to me?
ravynehawke@gmail.com
.pdf format would work best for me, if available. I currently have 9 books to finish before the end of Dec. And will likely have to push some of those to Jan. But I can put your books up first come Jan… unless they are Christmas books? Then maybe I can squeeze them in before Christmas.
Hi Lori,
I am following up from well before Christmas… unfortunately I did not see your reply, as when I finished writing my request (above) I came across your post where it mentioned that you were no longer accepting any further book reviews until the new year.
I put I note in my diary and here I am…
I see that you are still very busy, however here are the links –

I have signed up below, if you would still like .pdf sent to your email just let me know and I will get them over to you.
Thanks you and keep up the sterling work.

UhOh, I’m not sure if my first comment went through or not, so I apologize if this is a duplicate. First of all, thank you for the recent retweet. I followed the link on your twitter page to find out more about your offer to review books for free, I have two I would like to send your way. Hegira, and Recusant, books one and two of The Brin Archives. I can send you ebook / kindle versions of both, or, they are also currently on sale on Amazon for only 99 cents. Please email me at the address below to let me know how to proceed. Thank you again.
Hey Jim, no other comment came through, but I purchased the books on Amazon and will review them. I currently have 8 books ahead of yours to read and review, but should get to yours before the Christmas holiday. If that is acceptable, please let me know here since no email addy came through.
Hello. I just released my third paranormal murder mystery thriller “Method in the Madness.” Would you be interested in reviewing the new book? Or, would you be interested in reviewing the series? The first 2 books each won awards. They are “Secrets in the Shallows” and “Devil in the Details.” I can send you the files, if you’d like to review them.
Thank you for your consideration.

Hello Kimberly… you hooked me when I saw that the books are set in Maine. I would love to review all of them for you. It will take several weeks though to get to the new one released, so if you’d like, while I am reading and reviewing, I could also post a promotion of the third book on my blog as well.. would just need a media file for that. My email is ravynehawke@gmail.com if you want to send me the media kit and other files.
