The neighbor’s dog and pup romping and playing in the yard
A squirrel and robin playing tag in the maple tree
A morning visit from the black cat that lives across the alley
The garden’s thirst quenched by a steady rainfall
To witness all of these and be thankful that I am not so jaded as to miss the joy and beauty in each.
Again, Lori…a beautiful poem. We are so enslaved in our successes and failures….and in the race to achieve something that we often ignore these simple pleasures that are so readily available around us. I wrote a poem called ‘Simple Pleasures’ back in 2007…it’s on my blog….www.mehtanishank.wordpress.com….and I strongly echo your views.
‘To witness all of these and be thankful that I am not so jaded as to miss the joy and beauty in each.’
Would that we could all say that, every day.
Such delightful delights 🙂
Thanks, Raili 🙂
