June on A Whispered Wind

June will be an exciting month here on A Whispered Wind, well at least it will be for me! I will be writing 30 original Killer Tales! Tales about Serial Killers. So if you are a fan of serial killers, you may want to tune in. Each story will be between 500-1500 words.

I will also be writing “small stones” daily, but I may not get around to many reblogs.

Lori L. MacLaughlin traces her love of fantasy adventure to Tolkien and Terry Brooks, finding The Lord of the Rings and The Sword of Shannara particularly inspirational. She’s been writing stories in her head since she was old enough to run wild through the forests on the farm on which she grew up.

She has been many things over the years – tree climber, dairy farmer, clothing salesperson, kids’ shoe fitter, retail manager, medical transcriptionist, journalist, private pilot, traveler, wife and mother, Red Sox and New York Giants fan, muscle car enthusiast and NASCAR fan, and a lover of all things Scottish and Irish.

Morning Delights

The neighbor’s dog and pup romping and playing in the yard

A squirrel and robin playing tag in the maple tree

A morning visit from the black cat that lives across the alley

The garden’s thirst quenched by a steady rainfall

To witness all of these and be thankful that I am not so jaded as to miss the joy and beauty in each.

Book Review – Amber Wake: Gabriel Falling

Review:

Amber Wake: Gabriel Falling is ‘not-your-typical’ pirate story. And that’s a good thing for this reader who normally reads science fiction and thrillers. The authors did an excellent job maintaining the appropriate language for the early 18th Century. Historical events are well-researched. And the cast of characters are believable and well-rounded. This novel has some of the best action scenes I have read in a long time (yes, even better than some thrillers I’ve recently read). They left me breathless and in anticipation. There are some endearing moments throughout the novel involving Wallace, Miles Jacob and a young boy named Adam. Through those scenes, you learn about the character of Gabriel Wallace, what makes him the man he is and how loyal his friends really are. The story is authentic, engaging and suspenseful. Highly recommended.
